Clark County Fire Cadet Program
The Clark County Fire Cadet Program is run by the Battleground School District and the
Clark County Vocational Skills Center. This 2-year program is open to motivated high school juniors and seniors.
Training:
- Firefighter I and Firefighter II training
- Washington State First Responder training
- Basic Hazardous Materials training
- Emergency medical skills
- Teamwork and professionalism
Ride-along: Students also participate in real-life experiences at the Fire District by riding along with the duty crews. During the ride-along, students are expected to perform as part of the crew. This includes training opportunities, physical fitness, responding to emergency calls, station maintenance and public education contacts.
College Credit: At the end of the two year program, students are eligible to receive college credits that can be applied to an Associate’s Degree in Fire Science through participating colleges.
Qualifications: Successful cadets are highly motivated, respectful and professional in both their appearance and attitude. Currently, we accept students from the Vancouver and Evergreen school districts.
